Every manager has his or her own paint spill story.  We all do.

What matters is not the spill itself, but what actions lead to the spill, how it was handled and what was learned.

Franchisees learn how to prevent and clean spills in College Pro Painters field training. They also learn what to do if a spill occurs on a customer’s property. In turn, franchisees train their crew members.

As much as we don’t want to think about paint spills, accidents do happen and it is important to be fully prepared when they do.

College Pro is giving you the opportunity to set an achievable, yet uncommon and very impressive New Year’s resolution – in 2013 you can run your own College Pro franchise. That being said, if you are the person who was bored of the gym after two visits in 2012, this opportunity is not for you. However, if you are ambitious, self-motivated, money-hungry, and business-oriented, this New Year’s resolution is for you.  At College Pro, goal setting is supported. In fact, success for College Pro’s painting and window cleaning franchisees is based on goals – and hitting them!  Franchisees have a weekly phone call with their coach to review the previous week’s achievements and set goals for the upcoming week (as they pertain to the year-end goal in the business).  You can do the math…if a franchisee is constantly missing their weekly goals, it is unlikely they will hit their year-end goals.  Essentially, making your New Year’s resolution “I am going to run a C

What is the best part of running your own business?

The relationships you build with your customers and making them happy.

What skills have you learned at College Pro that help you as a student?

Time Management and Promptness are both things I have learned to be a top notch student.  Also, fighting through adversity – which is something you have to do at College Pro Painters to succeed.

I imagine there are some that would think being on the inside looking out has its advantages.  You know, that would undoubtedly be 100% right.  I have been privileged just enough to see some of the inner workings at College Pro and have had the opportunity to hear or read the stories of many franchisees from across North America.  There is a common thread, and let me explain.

14 Hours On The Road With College Pro PaintersI had the opportunity to drive to and from Ottawa (a 7 hour trip each way) with a College Pro Painters franchisee, Ali Wonch. During this trip, I got to know Ali very well, and learned a lot about her and a lot about what it takes to run a business.  I thought I would share this insight for those who are unsure if College Pro might be right for them. First off, we started our trip an hour behind schedule, because Ali had to remove all of her painting equipment from her car to make room for our luggage. You can imagine how much stuff would take a full hour to move – this was some immediate proof of the many unexpected things that come up while running a business…and the need for a constantly updated schedule.  For my sake, I quickly nicknamed her car the  ‘office’.

Would I work for College Pro Painters again? Definitely!  In just two years with College Pro Painters I have accomplished things that most people can only dream of doing in a lifetime, and I am only 22. I began working with College Pro Painters in my senior year of college at the University of Connecticut.  My first year with College Pro was a huge learning experience.  I learned the complete inner workings of a successful business, I learned proper customer service and sales skills, and I also learned how to effectively manage employees.
